It's a beautiful country, but sparsely populated; so you gets lots and lots of landscape. I made a one week round-trip by car and went from Edinburgh to Loch Lomond, to Glencoe, Fort William, Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee and back to Edinburgh. All I can say is it was worth visiting, the Scots are really friendly and made us feel very welcome. If you go to Scotland, I would recommend taking at least a day for Ben Nevis and maybe another for the Isle of Skye. Aww, I would love to go there again. :D
