the chinese characters used in the mainland of china have been simplied. and not all of them read the same as the japanese ones. japanese was developd from classical chinese. for example, theres a character "爱" in my chinese name. it means love in english and its pronunciation is almost the same as the Kanji in japanese.before chinese characters were simply and in classical chinese, it was written as 愛 as well
i think chinese may not be difficult to learn, but maybe a little hard for u to write the chinese characters :p
