Community Guidelines

InterPals connects millions of people across the world. These guidelines keep the community safe, kind, and worth being part of.

When you joined InterPals, you agreed to follow a few simple rules. They exist to protect you, the people you talk to, and the community as a whole. Most of them are just common sense: be respectful, be honest, and don't try to harm anyone.

This page is the friendly summary. The full legal version lives in our Terms of Service, which you agreed to when you signed up.

Be kind

Treat every member the way you'd want to be treated. Disagreements are fine. Cruelty isn't.

Politely declining a conversation if you're not interested.
Asking respectful questions about someone's culture, language, or country.
Insults, slurs, hate speech, or attacks based on someone's race, religion, gender, sexuality, or nationality.
Repeatedly messaging someone after they've asked you to stop, or trying to contact them through other accounts.

Be real

Your profile should represent who you actually are. Authentic profiles lead to real connections.

Using your own photos, your real age, and your actual location.
Sharing what you genuinely care about, even if it's niche.
Pretending to be someone else, using stolen or AI-generated photos, or lying about your age.
Running multiple accounts, or making a new one to evade a previous suspension.

Keep it clean

InterPals is a general-audience site. Adult or graphic content doesn't belong here, no matter who you're sending it to.

Photos that show you, your travels, your hobbies, or your everyday life.
Nudity, sexual content, or explicit messages, including in private chats.
Graphic violence, gore, or content meant to shock or disturb.

Protect yourself and others

Take your time before trusting strangers, and don't try to push others to trust you faster than they're comfortable with.

Getting to know someone on InterPals before sharing personal contact details.
Reporting anyone who asks you for money, gift cards, or login credentials.
Quickly steering new contacts onto WhatsApp, Telegram, or other apps. This is a common scam and grooming tactic, and we treat it seriously.

No spam, scams, or commerce

InterPals is for friendship and language exchange, not advertising, fundraising, or selling.

Sharing a link to your blog, music, or art when it's relevant to a conversation.
Mass-messaging the same content to many people, or copy-pasting promotional messages.
Romance scams, phishing, asking for money, advertising paid services, or recruiting for any business.

Respect age limits

InterPals is open to people 13 and older, but adults and minors interact under strict limits. Any inappropriate behavior involving minors is reported and removed without warning.

Talking with people in your own age range about hobbies, school, languages, and travel.
Being under 13. You'll need to wait until you're old enough to join.
Adults sending romantic, sexual, or grooming messages to minors. This is a zero-tolerance violation, and serious cases are reported to law enforcement.

Saw something wrong? Report it.

If someone is breaking these guidelines, use the Report button on their profile or in the conversation. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team. You can report someone whether or not you've talked to them before, and reporting is always confidential.

What happens when someone breaks the rules

Depending on the severity, our moderation team may issue a warning, hide content, restrict an account, or suspend it permanently. Suspensions can be appealed, but appeals are reviewed manually, so please make sure you've actually read the guidelines first. Severe violations (especially involving minors, threats, or fraud) result in immediate permanent suspension and may be reported to authorities.
