InterPals Child Safety Standards

At InterPals, we are committed to providing a safe environment for all our users, with a particular focus on protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation. This document outlines our standards, policies, and procedures for preventing, detecting, and addressing child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on our platform.

Our Commitment to Child Safety

InterPals has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation. We are committed to:

  • Preventing the creation, distribution, and viewing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) on our platform
  • Protecting children from grooming, solicitation, and other forms of sexual exploitation
  • Promptly responding to and addressing reports of CSAE
  • Cooperating with law enforcement and relevant authorities in the investigation and prosecution of CSAE
  • Continuously improving our systems, policies, and procedures to better protect children

Definitions

For the purposes of these standards:

  • Child: Any person under the age of 18 years.
  • Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): Any content that depicts sexually explicit activities involving a child, including but not limited to photographs, videos, digital images, drawings, cartoons, animations, or text descriptions.
  • Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE): Any act of sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, including but not limited to grooming, solicitation, sextortion, trafficking, or otherwise sexually exploiting a child.

Prohibited Content and Behavior

The following content and behavior are strictly prohibited on InterPals:

  • Creation, distribution, sharing, or storage of CSAM in any form
  • Grooming or attempting to establish inappropriate relationships with children
  • Soliciting sexual content from children
  • Sharing personal information of children without proper authorization
  • Engaging in conversations of a sexual nature with children
  • Attempting to arrange meetings with children for sexual purposes
  • Any other behavior that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers children

Age Verification and Restrictions

InterPals requires users to be at least 13 years of age to use our service. We implement the following measures to enforce this requirement:

  • Age verification during the registration process
  • Monitoring for signs of underage users
  • Prompt removal of accounts identified as belonging to users under 13 years of age

Reporting Mechanisms

InterPals provides multiple channels for users to report suspected CSAE:

  • In-app reporting: Users can report inappropriate content or behavior directly within the platform by using the "Report" button available on profiles, messages, and posts
  • Email reporting: Reports can be sent to safety@interpals.net
  • Contact form: Available through our website's Help Center

All reports are treated with the utmost seriousness and confidentiality. We encourage users to provide as much detail as possible when submitting reports to facilitate swift and effective action.

Response Procedures

When we receive a report of suspected CSAE, we follow these procedures:

  • Immediate review of the reported content or behavior by our trained safety team
  • Temporary restriction of the reported account pending investigation, when appropriate
  • Preservation of evidence for potential law enforcement involvement
  • Removal of any confirmed CSAM and termination of the responsible account
  • Reporting to relevant authorities, including law enforcement and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States, or equivalent organizations in other jurisdictions
  • Follow-up with the reporting user when appropriate and legally permissible

Proactive Detection Measures

In addition to responding to reports, InterPals employs proactive measures to detect and prevent CSAE:

  • Automated content scanning using hash-matching technology to identify known CSAM
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to detect potentially inappropriate interactions
  • Regular monitoring of high-risk areas of the platform
  • Review of user accounts exhibiting suspicious patterns of behavior

Staff Training and Resources

InterPals ensures that all staff members involved in content moderation and safety enforcement:

  • Receive specialized training on identifying and addressing CSAE
  • Have access to psychological support resources
  • Follow clear guidelines and procedures for handling CSAE cases
  • Regularly update their knowledge on emerging trends and best practices

Cooperation with Law Enforcement

InterPals is committed to cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the investigation and prosecution of CSAE. This includes:

  • Promptly responding to valid legal requests for information
  • Preserving relevant data in accordance with applicable laws
  • Proactively reporting detected CSAM to appropriate authorities
  • Participating in industry initiatives to combat CSAE

We continuously review and improve our child safety measures through:

  • Regular assessment of the effectiveness of our policies and procedures
  • Staying informed about emerging threats and best practices
  • Engaging with child safety experts and organizations
  • Implementing technological advancements in safety and security

These Child Safety Standards may be updated periodically to reflect changes in laws, regulations, or best practices. We encourage users to review these standards regularly. Significant changes will be communicated to users through appropriate channels.
