The Dicionário Houaiss da Língua Portuguesa defines saudade as "A somewhat melancholic feeling of incompleteness. It is related to thinking back on situations of privation due to the absence of someone or something, to move away from a place or thing, or to the absence of a set of particular and desirable experiences and pleasures once lived."

This is an interesting and pleasant surprise, as Portugal has always struck me as an ultra-extroverted culture. But I know nothing and am completely ignorant on the subject.

I'm writing my master's thesis. Are you doing anything more interesting on New Year's Eve?

In today’s world, traveling is no longer driven by passion or the desire to understand the world. It’s a mass-produced status marker — low-effort, socially mandatory, and intellectually hollow.

During my teenage years and early adulthood, I slept 7–9 hours a day, and good sleep was something sacred to me. I never understood people who stayed up all night to study, earn extra money, or party. And although I probably achieved less in life because of that, I don’t regret it because health is the most important thing and it can’t be replaced.
