I am an American, not only by law but by blood as well, my paternal grandmother being native American. Being American is not very popular these days. From what I gleen from news, there are many nations who would delite in our ruin. But I still stand proud of my country, because my country is not politicians. My country is not it's President. My country is not it's military nor it's ability to launch distruction. My country is it's PEOPLE! Our history is full of people, great people with a common longing... a longing and a love... for FREEDOM! My country is still young, but it's most grand experiment has become a success! It's had it's moments, no years, decades of shame. And yet in time freedom shined from sea to shining sea. But this freedom has not been free. It never has been free throughout all history. For my country freedom was paid for in the blood of it's patriots. Blud shed from Boston to Bunker hill. From the forts and wild places, and from the fields of Pennsylvania and Virginia, Kansas and Alabama. It highest held power was tested in the trenches of France and Belgium. Tested again at Pearl harbor and on tiny spects of sand islands in the vast Pacific, and the sands of North Africa. In Italy, in Crete, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and in Germany.
And it tested it's resolve first in Loris and followed in Vietnam. Even now, again on it's own soil and that of the Middle East. Gallons, buckets, drums full of blood still being paid for this freedom. This country is it's people, and a percent of these people who give that last great measure to keep our country free. Nevermind who's in that white house. Each of their stays are brief. Many things can change, many steps of progress, but also many hard falls of failure. But freedom is still our very birthright! And this shinning nation shall never fall, as long as the bells of freedom ring, and her people love it's sound.
